All About Granby, MA
Granby is a city in Hampshire County and is in the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. Granby was once part of Hadley, as were other towns. Granby was first settled in 1727 and was officially incorporated in 1768. The town is named in honor of John Manners, Marquess of Granby, a hero of the Seven Years’ War. Granby was originally part of the Hadley Equivalent Lands, and then part of South Hadley, before being incorporated on June 11, 1768. Old Hadley was first settled in 1659 by people from Hartford and Wethersfield, Connecticut. These settlers left Connecticut because of religious differences within their communities. John Pynchon was commissioned to buy wilderness land for their new community. Pynchon purchased the land from three Native American chiefs: Chickwallop, Umpanchala, and Quontquont. Ownership was transferred to the settlers and confirmed by the General Court. These original boundaries include part of present-day Granby.
It’s no secret that Granby has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Head over to nearby Holyoke to see the Dinosaur Footprints. They are not to be missed. There are more than 800 prehistoric tracks – the first dinosaur prints ever to be scientifically described – revealed in slabs of sandstone. Really. Actual dinosaur footprints. Learn and appreciate the history and culture of this nearby town at the Wistariahurst Museum. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Wistariahurst is the former home of William Skinner, a prominent silk manufacturer and was built in 1874. Step, crawl, and climb your way into a world of imagination at the Children’s Museum. After all that fun, sit down pizza made with fresh dough that is made in house every day at Mae’s Pizzeria. We suggest the Little Italy Lover’s. Year round, people flock to Granby to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Granby, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

As the Bay State, Massachusetts is known for having everything from beaches to cities to forests. Granby is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our Agawam, MA branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wooded areas around Dufresne Memorial Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. bag of dog food! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Granby can help, including:
